Alonso quits McLaren |
Deposed world champion Fernando Alonso is to leave the McLaren team before the end of his current contract, a spokesman for the driver told the RNE radio station on Friday.
The spokesman, Luis Garcia-Abad, said that Alonso, who was under contract with the British team until 2008, would not have to pay a penalty for leaving and was free to join another team.
The 2005 and 2006 Formula One king has been involved in intense contract negotiations with the team in England over the last two days, but the two sides were unable to reach an agreement for next season.
The 26-year-old Spaniard has had a controversial year with McLaren which has seen him at loggerheads with team chief Ron Dennis and co-driver Lewis Hamilton for much of the season and it had been widely expected he would move on.
His former employers at Renault have expressed their interest in taking him back, but Marca said Alonso might prefer to sign up for a smaller team with a view to eventually finding an opening at Ferrari.
Alonso saw his hopes of winning a hat-trick of world titles vanish in the final Grand Prix of the season in Brazil last month with Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen snatching the prize away from him and team-mate Hamilton.

Lewis Hamilton chooses Geneva |
Lewis Hamilton, the Formula One racing driver, is renting an apartment in Geneva with a view of Lake Geneva, Le Matin reports today. The newspaper cites a source indicating that Hamilton, 22, is set to finalize a rental agreement for the pad overlooking the Rade, the city’s harbor. It was reported earlier this week that the British driver, runnerup Formula One champion for 2007, was moving to Switzerland to avoid the glare of publicity in his home country.
Le Matin reports that Dominique Oberegger, a resident of Luins, near Gland in Vaud, met Hamilton’s father in Monza, Italy during the Grand Prix there in September. Oberegger had learned that the driver was looking for a place to live in Switzerland. He suggested a luxury three-room apartment in Luins with a view of Lake Geneva, which the Hamiltons, father and son, later visited. “They found it agreeable, then we went to eat at the Auberge Communale,” Oberegger told the newspaper. “Lewis loved the fact that nobody recognized him and that they would not come and disturb him during the meal.”
Hamilton, the most successful rookie Formula One driver ever, finds himself living a stealthy life in Britain, where paparazzi trail him everywhere he goes. In the end, Oberegger said the driver chose an apartment in Geneva, to be closer to the airport, although he may yet rent out the place in Luins for friends. Hamilton’s arrival would bring to seven the number of active Formula One drivers living in Switzerland, including 2007 world champion Kimi Raikkonen, who calls Zurich home. Fernando Alonso has a home in Mont-sur-Rolle. Other past champions such as Michael Schumacher (Gland) and Alain Prost (Nyon) live nearby.

Lewis has no regrets despite title loss |

Lewis Hamilton is adamant he doesn’t regret any aspect of his debut Formula 1 season and is instead taking the positives from finishing second in the world championship at the first attempt.
The McLaren driver agonisingly lost out on the title to Ferrari rival Kimi Raikkonen by a single point in the season finale in Brazil after leading the standings since the fourth round of the season.
He could have wrapped up the crown with a round to spare in China but slid into a gravel trap after McLaren kept him out too long on worn tyres.
But despite the near-miss, Hamilton insists he is only looking forward to next year.
“No," he replied when asked if he had any regrets in a video interview on McLaren’s official website.
"I think it's been a phenomenal year and I'm very, very privileged to have the opportunity, so I'm glad that I'm going to have another opportunity next year, and I'll work even harder.”
He added that he felt he has come a long way in his year as an F1 driver.
"Twelve months ago I was wondering whether I'll be a Formula 1 driver, and whether I would be able to make it, whether I would be able to do a good job,” he said.
"And obviously it's been such an extremely quick roller coaster and all of a sudden I'm here, at the end of my first season, you could say No. 2 in the world.
“So it's been a great year."

I'm just here to enjoy my snooker" , 因為 "I had nothing to lose" 而「老懷安慰」, 然而不知何解, 我還是想盡情哭多遍!

Mar..

Wentworth Miller GQ Interview |

TV show Prison Break was actor Wentworth Miller's breakout project. He moves around freely in our country - and presents the current urban fashion.
There he is in boxer shorts. A little taller (1,85 m =6'1), a little stronger (he doesn't exercise), a lot younger (35 this June) and a lot better looking (the three mile stare!) than expected. Full name: Wentworth Earl Miller III. He's trying on clothes completely undisturbed. A Marco Polo raincoat and an Armani cashmere coat are his favorites. There's no entourage or a watcher accompanying him. Pleasantly little fuss over the face of US serial TV in the last few years.
2003 was expected to be Wentworth Miller's breakout year. He finally got a coveted role, being cast in a movie with Nicole Kidman and Anthony Hopkins. The social drama, an adaptation of a Phillip Roth novel, was called The Human Stain. Hardly anyone saw the film. As Miller recalls, "I hoped so badly that this movie would open some doors a little wider for me. But it was more like coming from an easy trot to a complete halt."
Until then he was recognized for the movie Underworld and TV guest spots on Buffy, The Vampire Slayer, ER and Dinotopia. I only knew Wentworth Miller from Mariah Carey's 2005 video "We Belong Together". The video was directed by Brett Ratner, who then hired Miller as the star of his upcoming show Prison Break. The Princeton grad surprised everyone with his Macguyver abilities in the role. The third season is currently being filmed. Prison Break is not a ratings hit only in the United States. A PR-woman confessed to me in Paris recently that she was wet for Went. And Went talks of Korea, which he visited a month ago - panties were thrown. "It's amazing, the success the show has had there. I couldn't go out in the street alone." His face is on almost every street corner in Seoul. He's a spokes model for a jeans company and a coffee brand. But he doesn't talk about that. Just on the previous day Miller modeled for another Korean catalog.
Los Angeles Harbor, Went is sipping on his Peppermint Moccha Chip Frappucino and chatting about his German roots. "Miller, Müller, you know!"A wast understatement. According to his official biography he also has African, Jamaican, English, Jewish and Indian roots - from his father's side alone. He's visited Germany before, "I toured Europe a lot of times during college with Tigertones, an a cappella singing group. Each time we visited Heidelberg. We would lay our hats on the town square and tried to earn our meal money. It would just cover beer and bratwursts. And I remember this pool where the girls could go topless. In retrospect I think that's the only reason why Heidelberg was always on our traveling schedule." Went surely wouldn't mind jumping in a pool right now. But the scorching 48˚C (118 F) and heavy winter outfits don't slow him down. And a planned five hour shoot extends to eight. He then gets into his air conditioned limousine. Wentworth Miller has to get back to his cell.
Editorial:
Wentworth Miller: In all honesty: how familar were you with his name? It's funny how one of the most intelligent and engrossing TV shows of the last few years has ratings trouble on our TV stations. In the US Prison Break immediately became a water cooler show, not least of all due to the brilliant performance of the 35-year-old star. The camera loves this man, making shooting him a child's play to photographers like the late Herb Ritts (who discovered him for a "Say No To Drugs" campaign), Bruce Weber and not least of all Ralph Mecke, who shot the cover story of this GQ Style. Next to Mr Miller's enormous stage presence it (the cover story) also showcases the diversity of the new urban fashion (and maybe you'll want to give Prison Break a second chance on DVD afterwards).
My father is Black, my mother White. That makes me a Lone Ranger between the two ethnic communities.
I constantly have to define myself for others. The problem is that the definitions always belong to those who define, not to those who are defined.
Prison Break is a thriller, but actually a family drama as well. It deals with the question of how far a person would go to save their loved ones.

Wentworth Miller |

Wentworth Earl Miller III was born on June 2, 1972. While he was born in Chipping Norten, Oxfordshire England, he was raised in Brooklyn New York. Wentworth’s background is very diverse as his father is of African American, Jamaican, English, German, Jewish and Cherokee descent and his mother is of Russian, French, Dutch, Syrian and Lebanese descent.
When asked about his background Wentworth often says, “My father is black and my mother is white. Therefore, I could answer to either, which kind of makes me a racial Lone Ranger, caught between two communities.”
He grew up in a strict academic environment with his father working as a Lawyer Educator and his mother as a Special Education Teacher. While studying at school Wentworth and his two sisters (Gillian and Leigh) were expected to take school seriously and were only allowed to listen to classical music.
After 3 years at Midwood High School in Brooklyn, Wentworth transferred to Quaker Valley Senior High School in Sewickley, Pennsylvania. After graduating in 1990 he attended the prestigious Princeton University where he would perform with the a cappella group, The Princeton Tigertones. Wentworth received his degree in English Literature in 1995 and decided it was time to follow a new path.
Career
He decided to move to Los Angeles and was hired as a temp to work behind the scenes and offices of several production companies. Within the years to come Wentworth found himself landing guest roles on shows such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, ER, Dinotopia, Joan of Arcadia, The Ghost Whisperer and the teen hit Popular.
Many of these guest roles soon led to a role in the feature film The Human Stain with Nicole Kidman and Sir Anthony Hopkins. Wentworth was immediately attracted to the role, “I liked the script, Human Stain, a lot because it resonated with me as a minority. I thought I knew a lot of the subtext of what was going on with this character.” The film was well received by the viewers and critics alike, further pushing Wentworth’s name into the public.
After The Human Stain he appeared in the movie Underworld with Kate Beckinsale and Mariah Carey’s 2005 music video We Belong Together. Wentworth’s career has sky rocketed thanks to his audition for the hit show Prison Break. He can now be seen weekly portraying the cunning and creative Michael Scofield alongside.
Private Life
Wentworth describes himself as a very private person, ''I wouldn't describe myself as a people person, I'm a private person, but that implies that I'm sitting on a mountain of secrets. The fact is, I'm a fairly quiet person. I have to laugh internally when I'm asked in interviews what nightspots I like to hit. I just don't have answers for those questions. So sometimes I make them up.''
He is currently living in L.A. and spends time relaxing when he’s not working. Wentworth is also single and remains to be so until he states otherwise.

Make history again |
Lewis Hamilton's record-breaking start to his formula one career continued yesterday when he moved into the joint lead of the world championship after finishing second in the Bahrain grand prix in his McLaren-Mercedes.
The 22-year-old became the first driver in the 58-year history of the world championship to finish on the podium in the opening three races of his career after taking the chequered flag 2.3 seconds behind Felipe Massa's Ferrari. Hamilton is equal on 22 points in the drivers' championship with Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen and with his own team-mate Fernando Alonso, whom he comprehensively eclipsed in fifth place at the end of the gruelling 57-lap race at the dusty Sakhir desert track.
It is the first time that a driver who has yet to win a grand prix has led the title race since France's Jean Behra in 1956. The next race is in Barcelona in four weeks' time.
"To have another second in only my third race I could not ask for more," said Hamilton, who drove with the same maturity and composure he had already displayed while finishing third in Australia and second in Malaysia. "There is only one more step from here and we will keep on pushing for Barcelona.
"I think it is a fantastic achievement. I am extremely proud. We have worked extremely hard to get where we are today, me and my family, but also my team in terms of how competitive we are."
For the moment, however, Hamilton said he was keen to be back home after more than two months on the road since before the start of season. "I am looking forward to going home, I have not been home for nine weeks," he said.
"I'll be back next week. I think the support is growing and I'm looking forward to getting to Silverstone [for the British grand prix in July] and seeing how many fans are there. I have not experienced it yet, so it will be new to me. I hope I will still be able to walk the streets.
"I know this break coming up is going to be really good, we are going to be working extremely hard to make sure we make some more steps forward, to make sure that we go to Barcelona even quicker."

Tiger Woods of F1 |

Born in Stevenage in 1985, Lewis Hamilton won several karting championships before being signed by McLaren aged 12. He won the British Formula Renault championship in 2003, Formula Three Euro Series in 2005 and the GP2 Series this year, beating more experienced rivals. Last month he was named as Fernando Alonso’s new McLaren Formula One team-mate. He lives in Hertfordshire with his father Anthony and younger brother Nicholas, who has cerebral palsyLewis Hamilton may be the first black driver ever signed to a Formula One team. But back home in Tewin Wood, Hertfordshire, he’s a long way from fast-living Monaco and the glamorous trappings of the F1 circus; here the small-town boy drives a little Smart Forfour.
It is a sporty version, though, as the 21-year-old is quick to point out. “It’s a 177bhp specially tuned Brabus and it’s seriously quick,” he says. “It has a big turbo with all the performance you need. Before that I owned a Smart Roadster for two years.”
But it’s still piddling compared with the 750bhp packed by a modern F1 car. And he’s crashed it. “I’ve had a couple of accidents,” he admits, “including one where I didn’t see a corner in time and went off the road.”
On the track his judgment has fortunately proved more reliable. Hamilton will take the driving seat of his McLaren F1 car at the start of the 2007 season in March, alongside team-mate Fernando Alonso, the current world champion, who has jumped ship from Renault. McLaren badly needs a win, having completed the last season without a single grand prix victory.
David Coulthard, former McLaren driver and veteran of 211 grands prix, has questioned the thinking behind Hamilton’s appointment and suggested the youngster should first spend time as a test driver. But Hamilton believes he’s prepared for the challenge. “I’m absolutely ready,” he says. “I must put some miles under my belt, and the sooner the better.
“I have nothing left to prove. I’ve had a fantastic season winning the GP2 Series against some very experienced drivers. I know that F1 is going to be much tougher but teaming up with Fernando is the best solution for me because I can learn so much from him.”
Hamilton has already been dubbed “the Tiger Woods of motorsport” and Ron Dennis — McLaren’s founder — recently rated only Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen above his rookie driver. He spotted Hamilton’s talent as a 12-year-old, signed him up on a development contract and has since spent an estimated £5m on what he calls his My Fair Lady experiment. Just four years after Hamilton passed his driving test, he is now poised to fulfil his, and his mentor’s, ultimate dream.
His rise to the top began when he was five years old and his father bought him a radio-controlled car. “It was an electric off-roader and I loved it. My dad saw I had good eye-to-hand co-ordination and encouraged me to try racing it.”
A year later he found himself racing it around the Blue Peter garden. “It was a big day out. I think I was at least 20 years younger than the other contestants, but I won.”
After this small victory Hamilton was given his first petrol-powered racing kart on Christmas Day 1992. The weekend hobby became more serious when he won the Cadet Class of the British karting championship three years later. As a 10-year-old blatting around a track on a 60cc go-kart, Hamilton was completely fearless. “I don’t think my parents truly understood how dangerous it could be,” he says. “I had one big crash where I went off and ploughed into a wall. I bashed my head and had a nosebleed, but I just told Dad to fix the kart. I raced the next day and won.”
Hamilton first met Dennis at the annual Autosport Awards ceremony. Aged 10, he plucked up the courage to approach the McLaren supremo and ask for an autograph. “Ron signed the book then said, ‘Give me a call in nine years’. As it turned out they signed me when I was 12.”
His winning streak continued, picking up go-kart championships year after year and culminating with the European title in 2000. He claimed the Formula Renault UK trophy in a car after three attempts in 2003, the year after passing his driving test, having had just six lessons. “I paid for lessons in the end because I don’t think my dad was the best person to teach me,” he says cheekily. “He thinks he is the best driver and even now when I’m at the wheel I still get instructions on how to do it! “I do have some penalty points on my licence but it was from a speed camera and I’m not sure I was the one driving that day.”
Hamilton, whose grandfather came to Britain from Grenada in the 1950s and worked on the railways, still lives with his father Anthony — also a former rail worker who went on to run a successful IT business — and younger brother Nicholas. His parents divorced but he remains close to his mother and has been dating his college sweetheart Jodia for 2Å years.
“The only problem with my job is that I don’t get to see her enough,” he says sweetly, sounding a million miles from the clichéd F1 playboy. “We met while we were studying at college in Cambridge. She studied event management and is now working in London. She’s my best friend and we speak every day.”
To relax he plays guitar, plays basketball, and is trying his hand at golf. He is expected to earn about £350,000 in his first F1 season, plus bonuses that could amount to as much as £140,000 per race. And, growing into his new role, he already has his eyes on a suitably flashy motor. In the past his connections with McLaren Mercedes (DaimlerChrysler, Mercedes’ parent company, holds a 40% stake in McLaren) earned him the keys to a Mercedes C-class, followed by a C-class Sports Coupé. He now has his eye on something extra special: a Mercedes SLR McLaren supercar.
If he and Alonso can turn around McLaren’s fading fortunes, he might just get lucky.
